WOMEN RESRVATION ALONE WOULD BRING WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

The Ongoing Debate in the Indian Parliament on the Women Reservation Bill has provoked and exposed many Politicians, who had been advocating a variety of Reservations and in fact are the real Beneficiaries of such a Reservation.

The History of the Making of The Constitution of India illustrates that the Concept of Reservation was much debated by none other than the Legendary Leader and Philosopher Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and People may differ with the impact of the ‘Reservation’ in Indian Polity but it has really “Worked” for the ‘Weak’ and the Downtrodden Strata of many Communities and now after more than 50 Years of Independence when We look behind, we find a great difference in the ‘Overall View’ of the Society at large, as we find a great Human Force, ready and willing to join hands in the Progress Plan of the Country.

The idea of Women Reservation is also not New, as it has been brought into existence and implementation, with its introduction as Horizontal in the all the known Vertical Categories (General, S.C., S.T. and O.B.C.) where Women were granted 30% Reservation in respective Reservation Percentages of the Vertical Categories.

At times the phrase ‘Reservation’ is being incorrectly interpreted to be a tool for granting backdoor entry to the less competent, whereas it should be welcomed as a mechanism to promote the less favourable Class of People, who needs extra care, extra attention and additional space to grow, being “Special” in Nature.

The Time has come to strengthen the “Women” by making Reservation for them in all walks of Life, including in the Parliament and the State Assemblies, as the ‘Modern Women of The Millennium” have proved that they have got the required Ability, Strength and Courage to take the reins in their mighty, capable and dependable hands. Therefore the “Women Reservation Bill”, needs to be viewed as “Women Empowerment Bill”.
